If you're up for a few days of mountains, hot water, and good company, this one's for you.
We're heading to the Gastein Valley, in the heart of Austria's High Tauern range — the same mountains that hold the country's highest peaks. It's a valley built around hot springs: people have been coming here to hike, soak, and slow down since the 1800s, and it's still exactly that kind of place.
We'll be based in Bad Hofgastein for four days, right at the foot of the mountains. Here's roughly how it goes:
Every day, an optional guided hike — from easy valley walks to proper alpine trails, depending on the group and the weather. Join all of them, skip a morning, it's up to you.
Afternoons at the Alpentherme — open-air thermal lakes, mountain views all around, saunas. This is where tired legs go to recover.
A morning trip up to Sportgastein, the wild end of the valley where the road stops and the high mountains take over.
Full itinerary planning and on-the-ground guiding throughout the trip are included. The group stays small by design, for a better experience for everyone.
Meeting point: Budapest Keleti, 13:15 on Thursday, October 22.
How it works:
You reserve your spot with a €50 guide fee (non-refundable, but if something comes up, just reach out and we'll talk it through) — this covers the full itinerary planning and me guiding the group on the ground throughout the trip.
Once you've paid, you'll get an email with everything you need — so keep an eye on your spam folder too: booking links and details for the hotel and trains, the full day-by-day program, and an invite to the group's WhatsApp chat. Plus a pre-departure video call to go over any last questions.
What you'll be booking on your own (details sent after payment):
Hotel in Bad Hofgastein — breakfast, spa access, and a Gastein Card (free local trains + buses) included. The recommended booking is a single room, around €225 for the stay — happy to help if you'd rather share a room or need something else, just note that prices may vary.
Round-trip train Budapest–Bad Hofgastein — around €80
