It is time to discover Eger!
Spend a day in Eger, one of Hungary’s most iconic towns. We’ll explore the Egri Érseki pincerendszer — a cool, 3 km cellar system beneath the old town — enjoy a light tasting inside the tunnels, visit Szépasszony-völgy for local wines, and finish at Hungary’s oldest Turkish bath.
Your adventure:
Meet at Budapest stadion autóbusz pályaudvar at 8:00am, and travel together to Eger (approx. 2 h via direct bus),
We’ll go down into the Egri Érseki pincerendszer, a roughly 3 km underground cellar system carved when the bishop’s palace was built (the cellars sit at a constant ~12 °C and the guided tour shows old waterways and water-wheel attractions)
After a light wine tasting in the tunnels, we’ll head to Szépasszony-völgy (the Valley of the Beautiful Woman) for a second round of local wines. This part is included in the full package — if you choose the basic option, you can enjoy free time in the city center or join us in the valley on your own.
We’ll take a lunch break at one of Eger’s famous restaurants to recharge and relax.
We’ll finish at Eger’s historic Turkish Bath, built around 1610. Its warm spring water contains a tiny amount of radon, a natural radioactive gas found in some thermal waters, and is known for its relaxing, traditionally therapeutic effects — a perfect way to relax while soaking in centuries of history.
Return to Budapest in the evening, carrying stories, flavors, and memories from a day exploring Eger’s hidden corners and historic treasures.
