Thermal Hiking Weekend – Salt Hill to Secret Caves

  • Keleti station Budapest, 1087 Hungary (map)

Step into a weekend of hiking, thermal waters, and hidden caves, where nature meets legend.

Meet new friends, explore ancient trails, and recharge your body and mind.

Saturday: We travel together to Eger, then hike 8 KM along the vinery road to Egerszalók. Discover the Sódomb, a surreal salt hill of steaming mineral terraces, and the mysterious Kőbojtár kaptárkő, carved with centuries-old niches.

Our resting nest will be the Thermal Park Hotel Egerszalók, where we can relax and recharge in one of the medicinal water pools (39–37°C) or detox in the sauna paradise. After dinner, we’ll enjoy a night hike to witness the magical light show of the Sódomb.

On Sunday, we’ll hike 5 KM to Demjén to visit the Cave Bath, where legend comes alive. Long ago, a dark magician was defeated here by dragon fire and fairy light, and from the ashes, the healing waters of the cave appeared — a secret that has lasted through time.

Return to Budapest in the evening, relaxed, recharged, and full of stories from an unforgettable weekend.
